Epik Protocol: A top decentralized Storage solution.

Ever since the advent of computer, data has been very important. Data in computer world is referred to information that can be processed or stored by a computer. This information can be in form of many things, it ranges form of text documents, images, audio clips, software programs, or other types of data.

As computer became common and everywhere, data also became much and all over the place. The need for storing data as computer evolved became obvious and pertinent, as the space of hard disks for holding data had to be worked on and increased on a regular. The larger the individual or company making use of the computer system, the larger the need for a storage system for data.

When Internet became accessible to all, where users can easily make use of it via phones, tablet, laptops, desktops and the likes. Organisations started exploring the Internet to look for clients and partnerships, the computational needs grew and have a large storage becomes real. Today, organizations and users require data storage to meet today's high-level computational needs like big data projects, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and the internet of things (IoT). And the other side of requiring huge data storage amounts is protecting against data loss due to disaster, failure or fraud. So, to avoid data loss, organizations can also employ data storage as backup solutions.

At first, big institutions started making using of a physical data storage. These was adopted by many until they discovered that there should be a more scalable way of handling data where it can be easily accessed anywhere. Modern computers/ terminals connect to storage devices either directly or through a network, users then instruct computers to access data from and store data to these storage devices.

Then the need to make use of cloud storage came up, it is more scalable and readily more accessible. The only thing that is lacking about this is the fact that it is centralized, data is not protected from third party as most people think. Let's take a look about what storage protocol is.

Storage protocols
These protocol makes data available to multiple users simultaneously and segregating storage from compute to enhance availability and scalability. There are many storage protocol options available, but the five most commonly used storage protocols of today are Internet Small Computer Systems Interface (iSCSI), Fibre Channel (FC), Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), Network File System (NFS) and Server Message Block (SMB).

The need for decentralized storage protocol

Decentralization in simple terms refers to absence of a central authority, this means people can take part in open and secured transaction without having a centralized entity to have a say. With the blockchain technology, although at its infant stage, decentralized storage is needed mainly not to provide a larger storage nor better privacy, but in creating an unprecedented ability to share reliable data without a trusted third-party.

With decentralized storage, data can be shared credibly and with the help of IPFS technology, theoretically having an infinite amount of dependable shared data is possible. But the problem with the former is that data shared on Ethereum that can be credible is little and also expensive.

Why Epik Protocol
EpiK Protocol, the first “AI Data + decentralized Storage” solution in the world, combines decentralized storage and AI data to create the first decentralized storage protocols for AI data in the world.
The protocol identified two things and provided solutions to both, it figured out that:
1. Decentralized storage requires a sustainable and efficient data production mechanism, and the huge market for AI data can fill this vacancy.

2. The AI data market needs a platform to run a sharing economy, the powerful data authentication capability of decentralized storage can resolve this problem.

After it’s mainnet launch, it is said to be the beginning of a 50 years journey of imparting human knowledge to AI. The EpiK Protocol team believes they can broaden AI’s horizons and usher in the era of the cognitive intelligence.

About Epik Protocol
EpiK Protocol is the world’s first decentralized storage protocol for AI data. Through the integration of IPFS storage technology, Token incentive mechanism and DAO governance model, it creates a global open autonomous community with four core capabilities of trusted storage, trusted incentives, trusted governance and trusted finance. It organizes global community users to work together at an extremely low management cost, continuously producing high-quality AI data that can be jointly built and shared. It aims to broaden the understanding of AI, and promote the arrival of the era of cognitive intelligence.
